There are calls for Kerry County Council to make it easier for people to build in the countryside.
Sinn Féin councillor Robert Beasley wants the council to include the provision in the new County Development Plan, which is currently being finalised.
He raised the issue at the recent Listowel Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Beasley says he accepts a lot of planning provisions are decided at national level.
However, he says he is aware of people who are finding it very difficult to get planning permission to build in the countryside.
