Incentives should be looked at the ensure all developments and estates in Kerry are finished fully.
That’s according to Fine Gael councillor Patrick O’Connor Scarteen.
He’s calling on the council to ensure all services, including footpaths, lights and green areas, are installed before any housing developments are built.
Cllr Patrick O’Connor Scarteen says he knows of areas that have housing developments with no footpaths in place and lights that are not working.
He says there’s a fierce shortage of housing in Kerry and wants the legislation changed to ensure estates are fully finished.
The council says planning permissions granted pertaining to housing developments allow these developments to be completed within the lifetime of the permission.
It adds bonds are conditioned to ensure the satisfactory construction and completion of the communal areas, services, roads, footpaths and public lighting.
