Calls are being made for farmers supplying milk to Kerry Co-op to be fully consulted before any joint venture deal with Kerry Group is finalised.
The IFA was reacting to reports today that indicate negotiations are nearing a conclusion on a deal that would see Kerry Co-op buy a 60% share of Kerry Group's dairy business.
It's understood the deal may include the new joint venture company buying the entire dairy business outright within three years.
The IFA says it understands the commercial sensitivities surrounding the negotiations but once they are concluded farmers should be given all the necessary information to allow them to fully assess the proposal and have their say.
Up to ten farmers on tractors held a demonstration in Tralee this morning.
