There are calls for Kerry County Council to seek increased funding for Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) roads.
The LIS provides funding to help local authorities carry out improvement works on private and non-publicly maintained roads.
Fianna Fáil councillor Niall Kelleher raised the issue at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.
Cllr Niall Kelleher called on the council to write to the Minister for Transport and the Minister for Public Expenditure, with a detailed request for increased funding for our LIS roads.
He said we have a very significant waiting list for the LIS, adding everything needs to be done to secure funding to carry out the necessary works.
In response, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Operations at Kerry County Council, Charlie O'Sullivan stated they will write to both ministers to seek further funding.
