Cahersiveen is in the running to be crowned Ireland’s most enterprising town.
The south Kerry town is among the finalists in the Bank of Ireland Begin Together Awards 2020.
This year, Bank of Ireland’s Begin Together Awards recognise business and community groups who have come together to support their local area, as they start to rebuild and recover from the impact of COVID-19.
A total prize fund of over €200,000 is available to finalists to help reboot local economies across Ireland.
The overall winner will receive €50,000 and the title of Ireland’s Most Enterprising Town, while there’s also a prize of €20,000 for the winner of the Rising Star award.
Cahersiveen will be competing with towns from across the island of Ireland; it’s the only Kerry location named as a finalist this year.
The judging panel will review all finalists from next week and the winners will be announced in early October.
The awards process is being fast-tracked this year to provide funding to winning towns in October in order to directly assist their COVID-19 recovery.
Head of Bank of Ireland for Kerry, Deirdre Twomey has congratulated Cahersiveen on becoming a finalist in the awards.
