The average cost of a home in Kerry is approaching €200,000.
This is according to a report from the Central Statistics Office, which has compiled the median and average price of homes nationwide.
The Residential Property Price Index for March shows the mean – or average - cost of a home in Kerry is now €197,083, around 40% of the average cost in Dublin.
Areas covered by the V93 Eircode, which includes Killarney, parts of the Iveragh Peninsula and Kenmare, have the highest average house price at €233,000.
Homes sold in the V92 Eircode, which covers all of West Kerry, Castleisland, Tralee and as far north as Ballybunion, average €178,000, while V23, which is the area from Cahersiveen to Waterville, has an average sale price of €179,000.
Home sold in the V31 Eircode (Listowel) cost on average €156,000.
The median price of homes sold in Kerry over the 12 months to March was €178,000; the median is the middle value of a set of numbers, which isn’t influenced as greatly as the average is by exceptionally high or low house prices.
