Almost €700,000 (€689,930) in funding has been allocated to improve private rural roads in Kerry.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has announced the funding under the 2021 Local Improvement Scheme.
€10.5 million was allocated for the LIS nationally, which is an increase of 5% on last year.
The funding will be used to improve non-public roads in rural communities, including access to homes, farms and outdoor amenities, and will be complemented by contributions of no more than €1,200 from landowners, and from local authorities.
The announcement of funding has been welcomed by Education Minister and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, Norma Foley, and Kerry Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin.
