Almost 1 in 10 residential properties in Kerry are vacant

Almost 1 in 10 properties in Kerry's residential housing stock are vacant.
That's according to the GeoDirectory GeoView Residential Buildings Report for the second quarter of the year.

The report also shows that the average price of properties involved in transactions across the county over the last year is just under €200,000.

The report states Kerry has a vacancy rate of 9.1%, meaning almost 1 in 10 addresses in the county's total residential housing stock are vacant.
This is double the national average of 4.5%, while the county's vacant properties make up 5.9% of the national stock.

530 buildings were under construction in Kerry last month, meaning 2.8% of total construction activity in Ireland took place here.

Almost 13% of all holiday homes in Ireland are in Kerry, and they make up 9.1% of the county's total housing stock.
In the 12 months up to June, 590 new residential addresses were added to GeoDirectory's database in Kerry, while 3.4% of the county's residential stock are apartments.

In the 12 months to May, there were 558 new constructions in Kerry, despite the restrictions on the sector for a significant portion of that time.
In the same period, there were 1,134 property transactions in Kerry, 7.1% of which were new dwellings, with an average property price involved just under €200,000 (€199,735).
Within Kerry, Killarney had the highest average price in that period, with €232,000 (€231,982), then Cahersiveen at €195,000 (€195,181), Tralee at €180,000 (€180,167), and Listowel at €166,000 (€165,766).
