Kerry County Council says nine of out ten dog owners its staff met in a five-month period were carrying bags for the disposal of dog waste.
From January to May, litter wardens, enforcement officers and dog wardens carried out 33 dog patrols during which they engaged with 190 dog owners.
92% of owners, who were spoken to about dog-related issues, were found to be carrying a bag to dispose of their pet's waste.

Meanwhile, the council issued over 5,500 dog licences over the timeframe, 31 fines were issued and the local authority rehomed 39 dogs.
