There was an 88% increase in the number of people caught with drugs for sale or supply in Kerry during the first quarter of this year.
That's according to figures released at the recent Joint Policing Committee meeting.
There were 30 incidents of people found in possession of drugs for sale or supply, compared to 16 in the first quarter of 2020.
Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda Division, Eileen Foster, said this was a good trend in the sense that gardaí are detecting more offenders.
The number of people caught with drugs for personal use dropped 15% over the same period, from 119 last year to 101 this year.
