Almost 7% of false alarm callouts for Kerry Fire Service last year were malicious.
That’s according to data released by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
Last year, Kerry Fire Service attended 549 fires; almost half or 255 were related to fires in forests, bogs and in grasslands.
There were 47 callouts for outdoor rubbish fires and 35 vehicle fires.
The fire service also attended 133 road accidents and assisted in 11 flooding or water pumping callouts.
Kerry Fire Service was involved in eight rescues of people from the water and there were 50 non-fire related rescues.
188 calls were classified as false alarms; 13 were deemed to be malicious and 175 calls were made with good intent.
