403 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre this evening.
Fewer than five of the new cases are in Kerry. This county has the fifth lowest 14-day incidence rate of the virus; 39.9 per 100,000 population. The national average is 115 per 100,000. Donegal has the highest 14-day incidence rate at 204.2.
Of the new cases confirmed this evening, Dublin has 174, Meath 34, Kildare 20, Mayo 18, and Cork 16, with the remaining 141 cases spread across 20 counties.
There have been no additional deaths.
As of April 17th, 1,204,063 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Ireland; 852,189 have received their first dose while 351,874 have got their second jab.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been been 4,836 deaths of people with COVID-19 in this country and there have been 243,911 cases.
