Four cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19, first identified in India, have been diagnosed in Kerry.
Virologist Cillian de Gascun said there has been 218 recorded cases of two Indian variants in Ireland, the Delta and the Kappa.
126 cases of the Delta variant have been identified and there's been 89 documented cases of the Kappa variant.
Meanwhile, Dr Jonathan Dean, Senior Clinical Scientist with the National Virus Reference Laboratory said there was an outbreak of the Kappa variant, which he described as a variant of interest but not of concern, in Cork which spilled over into Kerry.
