Met Éireann says temperatures in Kerry hit 28.3 degrees yesterday.
The national forecaster also says that the mercury didn't fall below 20.5 degrees at Valentia Observatory on Thursday.
10.8 hours of sunshine was recorded at the south Kerry weather station.

The status yellow warning for high temperatures continues until tomorrow morning with values then set to gradually fall back to more average temperatures for July.
