There are currently 26,775 premises without access to high-speed broadband in Kerry.
This represents 30% of the total number of premises in the county.
The figures were presented at a recent online briefing of Kerry County Council.
National Broadband Ireland has carried out surveys in the Tralee and Killarney areas; these will provide a detailed fibre network design.
The townlands around Tralee are now at design stage and it's expected the builds for these areas will begin in mid-2021.
