The Mayor of Killarney has condemned scenes of large crowds on a street in the town.
A video showing large numbers in the town, which is understood to have been shot last night, has been widely shared on social media.
The footage shows large crowds singing on Main Street and includes a man dancing on a defibrillator, which was provided through voluntary efforts.
The Cathaoirleach or Mayor of Killarney Brendan Cronin says it is disgraceful behaviour.
He says as a collective, we have all done tremendous work to ensure that the number of new cases remains as low as possible in Killarney and Kerry.
Cllr Cronin says this type of behaviour is a kick in the teeth and is unacceptable:
Meanwhile, councillor Niall Kelleher has also condemned the behaviour in the video.
He says throughout the summer the guidelines have been followed, and what happened in the video is out of character.
Cllr Kelleher says people need to be more aware of the guidelines:
Meanwhile, Kerry Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin says there’s no excuse for the scenes in Killarney overnight.
He says it was shameful, adding the people involved were old enough to know the difference between right and wrong.
The Deputy Government Chief Whip says this behaviour can’t be tolerated and everyone has an obligation to act responsibly and not to contribute to the problem.
