There were over 1,900 (1,932) presentations at the Homeless Information Centre in Tralee last year.
This include repeat clients, and is made up of families, couples and individuals, according to details contained in the Kerry County Council Draft Annual Report for 2019.
The council says the number of presentations by families and individuals to their Homeless Information Centre last year is a concern.
Kerry County Council says it continued to assist homeless persons last year through its Homeless Information Centre and through the provision of a range of homeless accommodation.
The total number of presentations at its centre on Denny Street, Tralee was 1,932; this includes repeat clients, and is made up of families, couples and individuals.
The total number of adults accommodated in emergency homeless accommodation last year was 400.
There were 67 families accommodated, including 102 adults - 142 families had presented; 22 couples or 44 adults were given accommodation – 34 had presented; and 254 individuals were accommodated – there had been 366 presentations seeking accommodation.
The council says the difference between the numbers who presented and the numbers accommodated can be attributed to a number of preventative measures including engagement with landlords, and sourcing alternative private rented accommodation.

They say, however, that progress was made in advancing a number of strategic priorities including the appointment of the Homeless HAP Place Finder, and the establishment of the Threshold Outreach Service Clinics which provide advice and advocacy services.
