Almost 1,600 Kerry farmers will receive additional funding under the Sheep Welfare Scheme.
The balancing payment brings the total paid under year four of the scheme to €16.6 million to over 18,000 farmers nationally.
An allocation of €1.8 million is due to be made to 1,582 sheep farmers in Kerry.
Minister for Education Norma Foley is welcoming the allocation, saying it's a significant financial boost to farmers, the sheep sector and the rural economy in Kerry.
The Sheep Welfare Scheme is co-funded by the European Union as part of Ireland's Rural Development Programme, 2014-2020.
