Over 1,500 Kerry businesses have applied for the Restart Grant Plus Scheme.
The government programme opened for applications during August, with €300 million in funding available for businesses across the country.
The Restart Grant Plus Scheme followed on from the Restart Scheme, which saw over 1,900 applications in Kerry.
The new scheme saw more businesses eligible for funding; the initial one was for companies with less than 50 employees, Restart Grant Plus allowed companies with up to 250 employees to apply.
Non-rateable B&Bs, sports clubs with commercial activities, and trading charity shops were also eligible.
Businesses must have suffered a 25% loss of expected turnover between April 1st and June 30th, and commit to reopening, and to hiring and sustaining employment.
The closing date for applications was August 31st, and Kerry County Council is currently assessing the over 1,500 applications.
