13 Kerry businesses are part of a new online directory that encourages people to repair items instead of discarding them.
RepairMyStuff.ie aims to reduce the amount of goods being dumped each year.
The online directory includes over 800 authorised repair professionals across Ireland, including 13 in Kerry.
It aims to make the process of repair and reuse easier, by connecting consumers with suitable businesses.
The directory includes a range of businesses, who can fix everything from electrical items to clothing, furniture, musical instruments, and bicycle repairs.
The website is operated by local authorities and people can search it by category to find nearby repair businesses, along with their contact and website details.
WEEE Ireland, in conjunction with the White Goods Association, is supporting the initiative.
CEO of WEEE Ireland Leo Donovan, says many people replace broken items without ever considering repairs, however, the life of products can be extended by tapping into a network of repair services nationwide.
He says fixing such items helps save on the cost of new products and it also benefits the environment by reducing waste.
