A Kerry TD claims there are continuing contradictions coming from the government.
Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly was speaking after level 3 restrictions were imposed on Dublin, which affect support and addiction recovery group meetings.
Deputy Pa Daly says that, following the new restrictions in Dublin, the Minister of State for Public Health, Well Being and National Drugs Strategy, Frank Feighan stated that all drug and alcohol support groups in Dublin, such as AA, NA or Smart Recovery are subject to the recently introduced Level 3 regulations relating to indoor events.
The minister added no organised indoor gatherings can take place until October 10th.
However, Deputy Daly says this is in direct contradiction to a parliamentary answer he received earlier in the month, which stated essential support groups are not covered by the regulations.
The Sinn Féin TD adds support and addiction recovery groups must be clarified as being exempt from restrictions on indoor gatherings.
The Kerry TD adds these groups should be allowed to meet, as they have been, while adhering to mask wearing and social distancing protocols.
