More ambulances are needed in Kerry during the summer months.
That's the view of Independent councillor Dan McCarthy, who says he's aware of situations where people requiring medical attention have been left waiting three hours for an ambulance to arrive, due to a lack of resources.
Cllr McCarthy says the population in some parts of Kerry can increase six-fold during the summer, and there needs to be more ambulance cover in the county when this happens.
The Independent councillor says there should be a system in place whereby the fire service are immediately contacted to intervene in situations when the ambulance will not make it to the scene quickly.
Kerry County Council has written to the National Ambulance Service requesting more cover on Cllr McCarthy's behalf, and he says he wants to hear a response as it is a matter of life and death.
